A new digital and vinyl release from Industry Music Group from Micayla Rivera
with a cover of "Don't You Leave Me Baby" which was originally recorded by The Founders on Alabama label Bolivia
in 1973.
The Founders were a family group from New York, originally
from Alabama, consisting of siblings Cheavoria Edwards, Leroy (Roy)
Edwards and F.D. Edwards, who wrote the song, with the latter being
replaced by Pete Pizarr Jr. on this single. It was later recorded
as a solo by Cheavoria Edwards under the alias
Bobbie Edwards also on Bolivia, they both sound the same, even identical, to these ears?
As a group, The Founders recorded only two known singles, this one and another on
Triode in 1971, however, Cheavoria Edwards went on to release around ten singles as Bobbie Roberson,
predominantly on Bolivia, and also an album on the label in 1979.
The song was sampled by Ms. Krazie on the hip-hop album track "Baby Don't Leave Me" in 2010.
The vinyl release, containing an instrumental flip side, comes in black or coloured vinyl and .is available from 28 Nov
2022 via
Bandcamp. The digital release has been available since 6 Jan '22, but is also
available on Bandcamp.
