Toronto's Claire Davis featured here first back in June
2021 with her debut EP "Thrive" on Magnephonic Records. Liam Kenney's LRK Records promptly picked
up on "Thrive" and "Playground"
and released it on 7" vinyl which sold out on pre-order.
She then featured on another LRK single with The HP's,
"Hope To See You Again" / "Better Days", in Jul 2022.
Today she makes it a hat trick with her third vinyl release via LRK
Records with "Long Gone" being digitally released ahead of the vinyl release scheduled for
30 Nov with pre-orders being taken next Friday (14 Oct).
Before going solo with "Thrive", Claire was the lead singer with
seven-piece Toronto funk band YUKA and featured on two
albums "From Then Ancients" (2014) and "Dreamscapes" (2019) known then as Claire Doyle. They performed with The
Dap-Kings and Lee Fields and Claire has sung background vocals
for Sharon Jones, Jully Black and Martha Reeves as well as up and
coming Toronoto artists Charlotte Day Wilson and Jessie Reyez
(featured only two weeks ago in
The Neo Soul Dirty Dozen).
Ms Davis has a debut ten track album "Get It Right" lined up for
spring 2023.
