A new version of one of Willie Hutch's classics "I Choose You" by Miami's Raleigh Mosely. It was also recoded by Chicago Gangsters so I'm not even going to try to
compare against the 70s versions, but nice to hear and perhaps some may be
hearing the song or the first time so if it turns them on to Willie Hutch
then that would be a bonus. It's a good enough excuse to post the originals
which I'm pretty sure have been posted before.
Willie Hutch's version is from "The Mack" (1973) and came out as a B side to "Brother's Gonna Work It Out"
on Motown. The Chicago Gangsters mega 9:20 min version is
from their 1975 album "Blind Over You", they did release an earlier shorter (4:15) version as a single on Red
Coach.
Cornell CC Carter covered it in 2017 on his "Vindicated Soul" album. I'm not aware of any other versions, although I'm sure it has been sampled dozens of times by many others, (especially hip-hoppers) e.g. Deitrick Haddon "Count Your Blessings" ("7 Days"), Jaheim "The Chosen One" ("Ghetto Classics") both in 2006. Here is probably not the best place to explore further, so I may do a separate post on it.
