Following Nike's "Just Do It" and Heinz's "Beanz Meanz Heinz", the #3
advertising strapline of all time (in UK) is Ronseal's "Does exactly it says on the tin" and that's exactly what the title of this compilation does.
Numero Group has selected thirteen deep soul sides and titled it "Eccentric Deep Soul" consisting of mainly quite obscure cuts from the 60s & 70s. A few of them have
been released as digital singles recently like
George McGregor, Eboney Essence
and Helene Smith.
Some are quite raw, gritty and earthy and possibly not everyone's taste but they will be a delight to lovers of the genre.
The compilation was released digitally on Friday (22 Jul 2022) and, whilst a tad on the pricey side for a digital comp at £9.99, would save you at least a grand if you were even able to find the tracks on vinyl. (prices based on Discogs median and high sales prices at time of posting)
