Another Numero Group vintage reissue. It comes from The Defaulters who
released just the one single on P.J.D.S. in 1979.
It looks like a private press as this is the only release on the label
and it was pressed by Boddie Recording Co. in Cleveland, OH. The original A side, credited to Clark Darke And The Defaulters, is a run of the mill disco tune "Disco Dennis" dedicated to the mayor of
Cleveland Dennis Kucinich.
The B side is "Gentle Man", credited as The Defaulters feat. Charles Hancock, a sweet soul tune presumably in-demand on the lowrider scene as the
prices are souring. I looked at prices and until a year ago they consistently sold for
between £50-£170 and suddenly one has sold on Discogs for £756 and the one
before that for £426. On Popsike only one has sold for more that £100 so I
don't know why someone has paid £756 for it unless it has suddenly become
in-demand.
