Big Crown Records pursued Sunny Ozuna for years to try to get him to
agree to them releasing his music. Finally, in 2015, they were successful and two
years later in 2017 a compilation of seventeen tracks "Mr. Brown Eyed Soul" was released.
They have subsequently also reissued three of his albums and five singles. Fast forward to 2022 and the second volume of fourteen tracks
"Mr. Brown Eyed Soul Vol. 2" has been compiled by the label.
Ildefonso 'Sunny' Ozuna is from San Antonio, TX, and has
been performing and recording since the 50s. He formed
Sunny & The Sunglows in 1959 who released their
first recording in 1960 changing their name to
Sunny & The Sunliners around 1964. He is still
performing today aged 79.
As well as original material, the compilation included several covers
such as Billy Stewart's "Sitting In The Park, Eddie Floyd's "I've Never Found A Girl", Seven Souls "I'm No Stranger" and The Intruders', Gamble & Huff penned, "Together" which are possibly the best tracks along with originals "Runaway" and "Should I Take You Home".
