This one's dedicated to DJ Kool Keith as he 'just loves' these Nu Disco 'rip-offs' that use a different title to the song that is being
covered/sampled!
In this instance French DJ/producer Stephane Deschezeaux 'uses' (as I can't
decide whether it is a cover or just samples)
The Horne Section's (T.H.S.) "Lady Shine (Shine On)" from 1984. He's titled it from the hook "You Should Be A Star (On Your Way)" and, certainly on Spotify, is given (or has taken) full writing credit when
in fact the song was written by Henry Horne.
For the anoraks it gets interesting as Henry Horne was from Philadelphia and learned to play drums at an early age in 1967 from his neighbour who was a member of The Butlers (as in Frank Beverly & The Butlers whose Northern Soul classic "If That's What You Wanted" also came out in 1967 and later became Raw Soul and then Frankie Beverly & Maze). He played bass for Eugene Wilde (aka Ronald Broomfield one of the talented Broomfield family (Broomfield Corporate Jam) brother to Vince, Diane aka Dee Dee Wilde, Aaron, Al and Ben), synth for Fat Larry's Band (1986), guitar and keyboards for Pieces Of A Dream (1986-1988) and drums for Harold Melvin (90s) (Teddy Pendergrass started out as a drummer with The Cadillacs and then Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes). It was the only recording (originally) by T.H.S. on a label Horne set up with member Leroy Roebuck which they called Roe Buck in 1983. It then got released on 4th & Broadway in 1984. An unreleased album came out in 2010 which spawned a 12" of four tracks from it in 2011.
