This EP has appeared on Amazon listings today or possibly yesterday (30
Jun). It is dated 10 May 1996 but I can't find it listed on Discogs apart
from the title track which was a CD single of various mixes.
A bit of extra digging revealed that her cover of Donny Hathaway's "Someday We'll all Be Free" was (only?) issued on a 1995 compilation "The Promised Land", a soundtrack to a five part US TV documentary narrated by Morgan Freeman about the migration of rural Southern African-Americans from the segregated deep south to Chicago between 1942-1970. She recorded "What Child Is This" in 1994 for a Christmas compilation "Joyful Christmas" and "That's What You'll Know" was a bonus track only on the Japanese edition of her 1996 album "Miracle".
Ewanya Puff Johnson, I would guess, is relatively unknown. She had only
two R&B chart hits with "Forever" (#20 1996) and "All Over Your Face"
(#6 1997) both taken from her only album "Miracle" (1996) which I picked
up blind for £1 in a charity shop years ago. There are a few nice tracks
on it.
She was from Detroit and was offered a recording contract aged only 13 by
Motown but declined owing to the commitment involved. After recording her
first album in 1996 she emigrated to South Africa in the early 2000s where she started work on her
second album but was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2008 and died in 2013 aged
only 40.
I can only assume that the title track has been reissued with four mixes
along with three bonus tracks (two of which were her first recordings) but
it is well worthwhile for her version of "Someday We'll all Be
Free".
