Khari Cabral & Jiva (aka Rodney Edge) are back with the first new album release under
the 'Jiva' name in 13 years. The album titled '5' is a reminder of the skill, musical prowess and creative power of Khari
& Jiva and heralds a welcome return for this deeply respected
band.
A few tracks from it have already seen the light of day as single i.e.
"I Believe" (8 Jul) and "Show Me The Way" c/w "North Node" (11 Mar) as a double single.
A track from the album featuring Lindsey Webster, "Heaven’s Design", is being hailed as a future classic. Other guests on the album
include Cleveland Jones who features on two tracks ("Show Me The Way" and "Hard Times"), Lizz Wright who appears on the James Mason cover of "Sweet Power Your Embrace" and Brenda Nicole Moorer on "Good Thing".
An interesting inclusion is a cover of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band's
"Hard Times" (1976) which features Cleveland Jones and Mo Hausler. It is a different arrangement so I've also included the
original version of the song written by brothers Stony and Thomas (August Darnell) Browder who, of course, became Kid Creole (& The Coconuts).
