Felton Pilate (Felton C. Pilate II 5 Nov 1952) is a singer, songwriter,
multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, trumpet, trombone) and record
producer. He is perhaps best known as a member of the 70s/80s group
Con Funk Shun, but he also produced MC Hammer from 1986-95.
He has released a single "Here's What I'd Do For You" on 9 Jul which is a sweet soul love ballad with a bit of added sax
      appeal.
He was born in Jackson, MS but as his father was a naval physician he
moved around with the military until settling in Vallejo, CA.
Whilst still in high school he formed a band and performed locally.
Michael Cooper asked Pilate to join his band during their final high
school years and Project Soul was formed. They toured with The Soul
Children and eventually relocated to Memphis, TN. They were offered a
record deal and asked to change their name and Con Funk Shun was born who
would record around sixteen albums between 1985 along with 26 singles
entering R&B chart with 4 in Hot 100 and another 4 bubbling
      under.
Con Funk Shun's, Cooper and Pilate written, song "Love's Train", was recently covered by Silk Sonic. It came from their "To
The Max" (1982) album and was only released as a B side to "I'm Leaving Baby" three
      years later in 1985.
