A tune played by Steve Aggasild in the first hour of his Monday evening show was a new
one on me. A version of a classic jazz funk tune "Come With Me" (written and recorded by Tania Maria which was recently reissued on 7" by
Soul Brother) by Ronny Jordan.
Ronny (real name Robert Simpson) put out nine albums between 1992 and
2009 but sadly died young in 2014 aged only 51. He rose to prominence
after featuring on Guru's Jazzamatazz Vol. 1 and later for his acid jazz
version of Mils Davis's "So What" (also included below).
If you're interested in both tracks than they were included on a 7
track Japanese 12" (Island) in 2007.
It was the "Allstar's Funkadelic Jazz Mix" that Steve played which features the vocals of Fay Simpson.
