Doobie Powell (aka Hubert Leander Powell III) is a
gospel, soul, jazz, funk artists from South Windsor, Hartford, CT. He
released a new album "Leander's Road" on 28 May 2022.
There are many guest appearances such as Frank McComb on "Better" (which was released as a single in Sep 2020) and Eric Roberson on "Imagination". There is also a stripped back cover of James Taylor's "You've Got A Friend" but the remaining songs are all mainly Powell written originals.
It's tough trying to choose the standouts as we will all have different preferences but it's a solid set of well produced soul/jazz tunes so I'll let you choose your own as mine keep changing with each listen fluctuating between the EWF like "Love Someone" to "Reminisce" and the instrumental jazz-funk opener "The Groove (Tasty Remix)".
