For me, Rance Allen had one of the greatest voices in soul/gospel music. He
formed The Rance Allen Group with his brothers Tom and Steve and, after releasing a debut single on Reflect in 1969 and winning a talent
competition, they were signed to Stax where they began recording on the
Gospel Truth imprint from 1972.
After four albums they moved to Capitol in 1977 returning to the Stax
main imprint in 1979. Their second album after their return was "I Feel
Like Going On" (1980) produced by Ronnie McNeir.
Two tracks from it, "I Feel Like Going On" and "Can’t Get Enough", which have only been available as album tracks, are getting their
first 7" vinyl release on Expansion.
Available to pre-order from
Simply Soul
for release end of June 2022.
