Champions League Final

Just to be clear I am NOT a Liverpool supporter but I believe that the whole country should get behind them this evening (unless of course you're a 'bitter' Manc who supports the Reds and Hell would have to freeze over first lol!) in their third Champions League final in five years.

It will be a tall order as Real Madrid have won thirteen of the sixteen Champions League finals (or equivalent European Cup) they have played including their last in 2018 against Liverpool. However, all is not lost as the last one they lost was against Liverpool in 1981.

In turn, Liverpool have won six of their nine appearances in the final and both have won one and lost one of the finals against each other.

Odds are changing all the time but Liverpool are even favorites to lift the trophy, thwarting Real's third English scalp in the competition this year having beaten Chelsea in the quarter final and Man City in the semi-final.

If you're interested in the stats then Real Madrid's win rate is 81% and Liverpool's 67%. Should Liverpool win that would convert to 70% and Real's reduces to 76%.

In terms of British clubs winning the trophy, Liverpool are top with 6 (lost 3) followed by Manchester United 3 (also lost 2), Chelsea (also lost 1) and Nottingham Forest 2, Aston Villa 1 and Celtic 1 (also lost 1). Arsenal, Leeds, Manchester City and Spurs have all been beaten finalists on one occasion.

By the way, if you didn't already know, the match (or highlights) is not being show on terrestrial TV, and if you do not have a BT Sport subscription you can watch the match for free on BT Sport online here: BT Sport kick-off is 20:00 BST.

  1. I'm going to encourage the Reds because I'm more of a fan of them than Real Madrid
even with Karim Benzema, maybe future "Golden Ball".

    A French supporter.
