Having teased us with a few pre-released singles "All Talk" (Feb. along with several remixes), "Path to Macondo / Those Kind of Blues" (Mar) and "Little Orphan Boy" (May), Brian Jackson releases his new album "This Is Brian Jackson" today (27 May 2022).
Jackson is perhaps best known for his albums as co-artist/producer with Gil
Scott-Heron in the 1970s, It will be the the veteran musician's first true
solo studio album in 20 years which he began work on when recording
"Bridges" with Gil Scott-Heron in 1976.
Apart from "All Talk", the best track for me is "Hold On" on which he sounds quite similar to Gil Scott-Heron, or at least the
song sounds like it could have come from one of his 70s albums.
He remains active and innovative, producing artists such as Will Downing
and Gwen Guthrie, recording with Kool & The Gang, Roy Ayers, Sean
Ono Lennon and constantly called upon for contributions by many other
artists as well.
