Ania Garvey & John Carey [2022] - You're Gonna Get Next To Me [Careyall Music]

An update of the 1976 Bo Kirkland & Ruth Davis song "You're Gonna Get Next To Me" by Ania Garvey & John Carey which is due out on 1 Jun 2022.

I'm not sure how to fairly compare it against such an iconic tune which reached #12 on UK pop chart which is ingrained in the consciousness of those of a certain age. The original is a smooth and melodic floater whilst this is more rugged with a harder, funky edge and the tempo's been upped a notch or two. I think after you get over the initial inevitable comparison with the original and give it a few listens this could be a dancefloor winner

Ania's last single was a collaboration with Binky Womack in January with "Anywhere With You".

Bo Kirkland is of course Mike James Kirkland of Mike & The Censations (with his brothers Robert and Walter) who also released a couple of solo albums prior to his collaboration with Ruth Davis between 1976-78. They released just one album together and a handful of singles with this one is by far and away their biggest hit, in the UK at least as it didn't even enter the Billboard Hot 100, believe it or not, and only reached #66 on R&B chart. Their biggest hit stateside came earlier with "Easy Loving".
