Michelle Brooks-Thompson first rose to fame as a finalist on The Voice (US) in 2012. As
with many powerhouse vocalists, she served her 'apprenticeship' in the
church with gospel music from a young age and is a graduate of the
prestigious Berklee College of Music.
She had a hit at the tail end of 2021 with the uptempo "Live It Up" which followed the ballad "Woman First" from May 2021. Her latest single sits between the two style-wise as
"Then I Met You" is an emotional ballad/stepper on which her gospel influenced vocals
are in evidence especially in the end quarter of the song.
The song was written by Ty Juan, who also provided backing vocals along with Nia Simmons, and produced by
Regi Myrix and is set for release next Friday (29 Apr 2022).
