The second release from Hit And Run on 21 Apr 2022 consists of three
tracks from George Scott's only album "Find Someone To Love" released on all Platinum subsidiary Maple in 1971 and reissued on CD in
2015 which was coincidentally posted in May 2020
HERE. Scott was a member of The Blind Boys Of Alabama.
The first song "I'm A Fool For You" has a bit of a back story and I'd direct you to the post of the full
album above for the full story but in essence it is the same backing used
by
The Manhattans
on "It's Gonna Take A Lot To Bring Me Back" on Deluxe in 1967 and by
The Icemen
on Ole-9 the same year and an unknown (but thought to be Gloria Barnes)
female vocal on a
Jimi Hendrix
1974 album track on Trip.
On the same side is "Let The Past Be The Past" which has the same backing as
Linda Jones
"Give My Love A Try" (1967) originally recorded by co-writer
Ray Lewis
on Fairmount in 1966.
The B side "Why Is It Taking So Long" has more connections as it was recorded by
Nate Adams
on Atlantic in 1967 and also by
Tony Baxter
on Gate in 1973 which had a version of "Let The Past Be The Past" on the flip. The song also appeared on a
Herman Hitson
compilation by Soul-Tay-Shus in 2005.
NOTE All alternate versions mentioned above were posted
HERE
when the album was posted so please follow this link to listen to avoid
re-posting.
