Following her recent five track EP "Sugar Woman", the latest single from Acantha Lang "River Keep Runnin'" was released today (10 Mar 2022).
It's has a quite bluesy guitar solo around 2:20 which might 'alarm' some
soulies. I can see the 'tape splicers' potentially coming out to chop that segment
out for airplay already!
Acantha states that the single was inspired by her mother's displacement
from both Hurricane Betsy and Hurricane Katrina. She wrote the song as a
literal depiction of the flooding that has brought so much devastation to
New Orleans (her hometown) but it's also a metaphor for life's troubles
that can bring you down.
Acantha was born and raised in New Orleans, moved to New York where she headlined her own blues show in Harlem, but now lives in London.
I've taken the opportunity of posting a new video for "Sugar Woman" which wasn't available at the time of posting the EP, although a live
video was posted.
