On Valentine's Day Navasha Daya released (Bandcamp only) a cover of General Caine's 1982 B side "For Lovers Only" taken from their Tabu album "Girls" the same year. The song was written
by the group's leader Mitch McDowell and keyboardist David C.
Chadwick.
General Caine released four albums under that name between 1978-83
before signing to Motown in 1986 changing their name slightly to General
Kane.
Navasha Daya is originally from East Cleveland, OH, now living in
Baltimore, MA. She is Gil Scott-Heron's cousin and she, with saxophonist
Gary Bartz, recently recorded a cover of his and Brian Jackson's "The Liberation Song (Red, Black And Green)" from their second album together "The First Minute Of A New Day" (1975)
(video below) . She's been recording for 17 years and has been named "Astral
Soul Goddess" by Mojo magazine.
