Alex Vaughn [2022] - Mirage [LVRN/Interscope Records]

The new single "Mirage" by Alex Vaughn, from DMV area, released on 9 Feb 2022, is yet another that uses the N-word.

It seems that it is becoming more and more frequently used in mainly R&B and rap/hip-hop songs. So I decided to investigate why it appears to be acceptable for African-Americans to use the term yet if a white person said it, it would certainly be classed as racism.

Nigga is derived from nigger which is a derogatory term but apparently used between black people it has the same meaning as fellow as a term of solidarity, endearment and affection. However, used outside of the social group it is most definitely derogatory and many still consider it's use offensive however it is used and most radio stations won't play songs using the word, they may tolerate the odd F-word but certainly not the N-word (source).
