Brief Encounter [2022] - Brief Encounter Singles [Athens Of The North] (Full Album)

As if you hadn't already got it from the title, available from 28 Jan 2022 is a vinyl compilation of Brief Encounter's singles released by Athens Of The North. 

Brief Encounter were a group from North Wilkesboro, NC, formed in the 70s, originally as Sounds of Soul, who recorded through to the 90s with various labels. They are probably best known for their classic "Human" but their albums are quite sought after with original copies of their only two albums fetching several hundred pounds.

Euen Fryer's Athens Of The North has been working with band members Montie & Gary (Bernard) Bailey with several releases over the last few years, culminating in this compilation of singles which includes their rarest and unknown single when they were known as Sounds of Soul. The group seems to have been largely a family affair with other members Larry and Velmar Bailey along with Charles Graham, Fredrick Alexander, Maurice Whittington, Michael Carter and Rufus Wilborn making up their original nine piece line-up.
