Cornell CC Carter [2021] - Next Life [Izipho Soul] (Full Album)

Following his recent success with "Not Possible", and the ensuing remixes, Cornell CC Carter drops a new album "Next Life" in collaboration with Izipho Soul tomorrow (8 Oct 2021). It's a very strong set of twelve original songs and one cover (NB the lead track is a spoken intro). 

The highlights, for me, are the stepper "I'm Here", "In The Moment" (a touch of Marvin Gaye influence), "Sho Nuff" (sweet soul ballad written by Rod Temperton and recorded by Heatwave in 1976 on their debut album "Too Hot To Handle" as "Sho'nuff Must Be Luv"),  "Next Life", "Experience" and "Real" but there's not a bad track on the whole set.

The album will be issued on CD and is available for £12 via Izipho Soul website.

In addition to the CD release of the album, four selections are lined up for vinyl release over two 45s. The first one is also released tomorrow "Don't you Love It" c/w "Real" posted earlier this week.

UPDATE As of this morning (8 Oct 2021)  the album is also available as a digital download on DSP's e.g. Amazon.

Slique Jay Adams [2021] - Your Body [Self Released]

This has to be one of the tunes of the week so far, although released on 14 Sep 2021! A superb cut "Your Body" by Chicago's Slique Jay Adams very reminiscent of the 'disgraced' R. Kelly! It is actually a 'reissue' as it first appeared on his 2009 CD "Rhythm & Ghetto Soul".

I've been aware of his music for several years via videos he's posted on YouTube but very little of it seems to actually be released. Also from another track on "Rhythm & Ghetto Soul" which is a cover of Bobby Womack's 1972 modern soul classic "Woman's Gotta Have It" (45 and "Understanding" LP) which you can still download for free from his website (www link below) after registering, but posted below from his YouTube channel.

In addition I've also posted a great stepper's version of Heatwave's "Mind Blowing Decisions" which is also available for free download.

I've also included a live 'lockdown' session recorded in 2020 which kicks off with a cover of Donny Hathaway's "Love, Love, Love" followed by EWF "Would You Mind" before he goes into some of his own material. Other covers include Maze's "While I'm Alone". "Your Body" features at around 20:30. Another Maze cover "The Look In Your Eyes" at 33:50. "A Woman's Gotta Have it" at 39:40 followed by a Marvin Gaye medley "Inner City Blues" / "God Is Love" / "What's Going On" / "Mercy Mercy Me" / "Save The Children" at 49:00.

I encourage you to visit his YouTube channel as he has some great music posted. This guy should be much better known .. what a talent!

Vince Broomfield [2021] - Past & Present [Self Released] (Full EP)

Following the release of the single "Let's Go Crash The Party" (3 Sep 2021), Vince Broomfield released a four track EP "Past & Present" on 26 Sep 2021.

The recommended track is "You're My Everything" and "Let's Celebrate" is a nice little jazzy stepper for the dancefloor.

Terry (Harris) [2021] - Brand New [Self Released] (PLUS #TheElvolutionOfMe (Full Album))

The new album from Terry (Harris) "Back In The Game" was released on 30 Sep 2021 but it is ONLY available directly from Terry himself via email Media67.photo@gmail.com (details are in the promo video below).

The album follows "#TheElvolutionOfMe" released in March (included below).

He has posted a video of one of the tracks "Brand New" which is a new take on the Thom Bell & Linda Creed song made famous by The Stylistics ("You Make Me Feel Brand New") who had a #2 pop hit with it on both sides of the Atlantic in 1974.

I've also included an 'interesting' reggae/lovers rock version by Melonyx from their "Black Elixir" EP from July.

I Want To Ta-Ta You Baby - A SoulStrutter Exclusive

In 1976 Johnny 'Guitar' Watson wrote and recorded "I Want To Ta-Ta You Baby" on his "Ain't That A Bitch" album. 

In Jun this year Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers 1980 album "Funk Express" was reissued with four previously unreleased bonus tracks, one of which was his version of  the song.
