Butcher Brown & Alex Isley [2021] - Remind Me [Concord Jazz]

Butcher Brown is a five piece band from Richmond, VA, consisting of Marcus Tenney, Morgan Burrs, Corey Fonville, Andrew Randazzo, and DJ Harrison.

They have just released a cover of Patrice Rushen's "Remind Me" ("Straight From The Heart" 1982) featuring Alex Isley (daughter of Ernie) (30 Sep 2021). 

Alex featured here in August with a Spotify only track which was a cover of Aaliyah's "At Your Best (You Are Love)" to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Aaliyah's untimely death.

N'Front [2021] - Love Like This [Herb Middelton]

Only a small handful of DJs have up until now been playing a legitimate copy of this tune yet it is being played left right and centre on radio shows from 'audio rips' taken from YouTube!

Herb Middleton's UK representative has just sent out the following:

"At the request of both Herb Middleton & the group if you have downloaded this track from the video with software can you please swap it for this higher quality version.  If you know anyone playing it from that and they might not be on this mailing list can you please ask them to contact me so I can send a copy to them again at both the producer and artists request."

N'Front are a group of four female singers (Sherena Wynn, Shawn “CoCo” McMillan, Stacey Richardson and Tia Stewart.) who travelled the world with the late, great Gerald Levert as his background vocalists. They were given their new name by producer Herb Middleton who has worked with artists such as Mary J Blige, SWV, Total and Brownstone.

They released a song "Never Another You"  co-written by all group members last year as a tribute to Gerald Levert to commemorate what would have been his 54th birthday on  13 Jul 2020.

The latest single is "Love Like This" which has not yet been give a release date.

Lokke & Pilar Vega [2021] - Cream [INI Movement]

Lokke is a German producer based in Zurich. His latest project "Cream" features  Pilar Vega (vocals) and Flo König (drums). Pilar is also from Zurich but of Caribbean origin.

This is another edgy, future soul with a jazz vibe.

Curiously I went looking for more material by Pilar Vega and came across a video of "Crème" from Apr 2020 (which is the same song) on which she states it's her first single, but doesn't appear to have been released!

Shirley Diamond [2021] - You Don't Know (Who You Sleeping With) [Self Released]

Just timeless, classic soul music from Shirley Diamond from Atlanta, GA, who was at the same high school as her mentor Gladys Knight and same college as Jean Carne. 

She has collaborated with Reggie Hargis Hicks of the group Brick and Mikael Manley the guitarist with The Commodores,  toured with Johnnie Taylor and has opened for Tyrone Davis, Joe Simon, Millie Jackson, Atlantic Star, Bar Kays, Bobby Bland, Denise LaSalle, Marvin Sease and many others. 

She has also performed with Lenny Williams (Tower Power), Ann Nesby, Chante Moore and various other artists.

It appears that she released her debut single "Are You Settin' Me Up" in 2013 and her first EP "Strong Woman" in 2016.

"You Don't Know (Who You Sleeping With)" released 20 Sep 2021 is her first release since 2018.

I note from the video below that it was produced by Felton Pilate (Con Funk shun) and Jesse James for his Gunsmoke records and it also states that it is from an album of the same name .. which I can find no trace of!
