Podcast - Franklin Sinclair - The New Music Hour - 30th April 2021

Tonight's show with Franklin spinning the new tunes, some posted already, others not and some others won't be! To be fair it's been a hard week for new releases, I guess we're paying for a bumper week the previous week. I may struggle to pull together a Dirty Dozen this week, so may dive into the tracks that missed out last week because of the quality of tunes released, unless there are some good fresh releases tomorrow.

MF Robots [2021] - Mother Funkin' Robots (Bossy Nova Re-Fit) [BBE]

The first of a set of nine remixes has been releasd today by MF Robots, who are  Jan Kincaid and Dawn Joseph of Brand New Heavies.

I'm afraid it doesn't really do much for me and I can see why Mr. Darge got bored of his 'Legendary' Deep Funk in the end as a lot of it is a bit monotomous.

To make the post a little more interesting I've added a live clip of them performing the original version at the Jazz Cafe in 2019.

Zee Musiq [2021] - Lessons [Self Released]

A new single from Zee Musiq was released 25 Apr 2021. It appears to be her third release, her first was back in 2013 with 'High' and another last year 'Breathe'. It looks like 'Breathe' along with the new single 'Lessons' will be on her debut EP later this year.

She has a lot more music on her SoundCloud page (some from 8 years ago) which states she's from the East Midlands. There's also a digital album on BandCamp from 2013.

Tyson [2021] - Pisces Problems [LMP Recordings] (Full EP)

Tyson feature in last week's Dirty Dozen with 'Tuesday', This week she's released a five track EP 'Pisces Problem'. Four of the tracks have already been released as singles, 'Tuesday', 'Red Handed' and Pisces Problems' this year and 'White' in 2019, leaving only 'Chemicals' which I suspect will be the new single.

None of them are as good as 'Tuesday', although 'Chenicals' is probably the best of the rest.

Lu Wright Feat. Civil [2021] - Lovely [Self Released]

Lu Wright is from South London and this is her thrid single this year. Her debut was 'More Than Friends' in 2018 followed by 'British Daisy' (the best of the batch) and then 'What I Like' this year.

The current single is the third that will feature on her debut EP 'Notes To Self' due in May 2021. It starts off OK but unfortunately the south London rap kicks in just before 2 mins for about 20-30 seconds ... but why ...  street-cred for the kids I guess?

JMSN [2021] - Rolling Stone [White Room Records]

This has been out a week (23 Apr 2021). Blue-eyed neo soul from JMSN with his first release since 2019 (if you exclude a Christmas single in 2020) and is from a forthcoming album 'Heals Me'.

JMSN (pronounced Jameson ... as in my favourite whiskey!) is Christian Andrew Berishaj and is from Detroit who has released about a dozen album since 2011.
