Family Of Swede [2021] - Family Album [Cordial] (Full Album)

Family of Swede were are group from Oakland, CA, who released a single "We Are Made As One" (Part 1 & 2) as The Epics on Bridge Town in 1969. I've managed to find a fairly lo-fi copy of both sides on YouTube posted below.

They were active on the west coast live scene in the 1970s and released their next single "Everybody Must Pay" c/w "I Got A Move" as Family Of Swede in 1976 on Butter Fields.

Cordial have got their hands on some previously unreleased recordings and released a full album "Family Album" on vinyl and CD in Jan. 2020 which is now getting it's first digital release on 19 Nov 2021.

Cordial also released a long version of "Set Me Free" on 12" as well as "Life" and another track not on the album "Mellow" on a 7" in 2020 and "Living From Day To Day" c/w "Where You Are" on 7" in 2019

I note that one of the writers on several songs is named Swede McDaniel, so would guess that's where the name of the group came from?  Also "When Tomorrow Comes" he co-wrote with Norman Whitfield and Debra Vaughn Lewis who co-wrote several of the other songs on the album.

I wonder if that was Debravon Lewis of Bridge (aka Fizzy Quick who recorded on Motown in the 80s) who is also from Oakland. Lewis co-wrote "Sweet And Wonderful" with Derick Hughes (the son of Freddie) recorded by Bridge (Hughes was also a member of the group) and was later covered by Jean Carn.

Another Norman Whitfield song (co-written with Eddie Holland) is also included, a cover of The Temptations "The Girl's Alright With Me" (curiously also covered by The Undisputed Truth if you read yesterday's post of their new remixed single as many of Whitfield's compositions were recorded by both groups).
