Oh dear, this will almost certainly have the purists wincing! Already
released on 7" vinyl earlier this year, "You Don't Love Me" is a
pre-released track (along with the vinyl flip "The Fugitive") from a
forthcoming debut album with the same name by Jamie & The
Numbers.
"You Don't Love Me" It is, of course, an anthemic Northern Soul tune originally recorded in
1968 by The Epitome Of Sound on Sandbag. This new version has an outro by
the song's writer Robert Paladino.
Included on the album are a couple of other Northern Soul classics
already released by New Zealanders
Jamie & The Numbers as singles i.e. Precisions / Eddie
Spencer "If This Is Love (I'd Rather Be Lonely)" and Bobby Fuller Four /
Melba Moore's "Magic Touch". One of the album's tracks is "Shout To The
Top" which I presume will be a cover of The Style Council. Another cover
is The Cure's "Boys Don't Cry"
The album is set for release digitally and on 12" vinyl from BandCamp on 12
Nov 2021 via Superfly Funk & Soul Records.
Whilst we are here, a previously unreleased original mix of The Epitome Of
Sound was released by Light Of Love in 2016.
