Roi 'Chip' Anthony is from Loureaville, LA. He recorded a beautiful song called "Long Way From Home" (video below) after
Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 which became a New Orleans anthem. Sadly, here we
are again 16 years later with
Hurricane Ida
in August 2021 battering not only the south coast but also the north
east of the US.
It's been a crazy, crazy year not only due to the pandemic but also wildfires, floods, storms, earthquakes etc..
On a lighter note ... Roi Anthony released his latest album "Leo King"
just as the hurricane was raging on 27 Aug 2021. It's a southern soul
affair with a couple of covers. One is his version of Harold Melvin
& The Blue Notes "I Miss You", (which by coincidence I found another version of by another southern
soul artist Bigg Robb from 2002 only a few days ago) and a version of
The Independents "Leavin Me", both from 1972.
A few other tracks worthy of mention are "Goodtime", "Addicted", "Head To My Toes" and "Thickness".
