I've already posted
several tracks
from Lady Blackbird's
debut album "Black Acid Soul" as they have been pre-released, but here is the full album in all it's
glory, released today (3 Sep 2021).
As I've alluded to previously, probably not to everyone's taste, but once
in a while a new singer emerges who takes the industry by storm and I
certainly think we will be hearing a lot more about Lady Blackbird (Marley
Monroe) once the mass media latch on! It will make a welcome change to the
current 'hype' surrounding Abba's return, you choose who you'd rather
listen to!
Her music defies genres but has a distinct 60s retro and jazz feel with
the eleven tracks including seven covers: "Blackbird" (Nina Simone 1963), "It's Not That Easy" Reuben Bell & The Casanovas 1967), "Ruler Of My Heart" (Irma Thomas 1963), "Collage" (James Gang 1969 co-written by Joe Walsh of The Eagles), "Lost And Lookin'" (Sam Cooke 1963 / Patience Valentine 1965), "It Will Never Happen Again" (Tim Hardin 1966), "Beware the Stranger" (The Voices of East Harlem 1973).
Chris Seefried was involved in writing all four new tracks: "Fix It", "Nobody's Sweetheart", "Five Feet Tall" and "Black Acid Soul".
