Lady Blackbird [2021] - It Will Never Happen Again [BMG]

A couple of weeks ago I posted four tracks from emerging artist Lady Blackbird (aka Marley Monroe from L.A.) and speculated that perhaps she was building up to an album. Well  today another track is released from, what will be, her debut album "Black Acid Soul" due on 3 Sep 2021.

The latest track is a cover of "It Will Never Happen Again" which was essentially a folk song written and recorded by Tim Harden on Verve Folkways in 1966 on his debut album "Tim Harden 1". Lady Blackbird adds some soul and jazz and coverts it into a haunting, deep and soulful ballad.

The song sounds very familiar but hasn't been covered by many artists, certainly no famous ones except 'our' Cilla (Black) only as an album track, so I don't know where I know it from, perhaps it's in a movie soundtrack?

There will be some who may dismiss this as MOR but listen to the quality and clarity of her voice. I predict Lady Blackbird will become a very well known name in the coming months and look forward to listening to the remaining six tracks from the album.

If you wish to grab the opportunity of seeing her perform live before she is selling out huge arenas, she will be performing in the UK this month making two appearances at 'We Are Out Here' festival Abbotts Ripton (near Huntingdon) on 19 Aug and at the 'Red Rooster' festival Euston Hall (near Thetford) 27 Aug.

As all the currently released tracks from the forthcoming album are neatly bundled together on Spotify I will post them all (once again).
