Soul Strutter: Christopher Williams [2021] - Fine As Gold [Six Nine Records #NP 34]

The next release on Six Nine records will be their first 12" vinyl record Christopher Williams "Fine As Gold" which is due in October (due to pressing plant backlogs).

The song is written, produced and recorded by Stone Paxton. The flip will be a remix by Yuki "T-Groove" Takahasi.

Christopher Williams featured on another Patton production with Prince protégé Marva King back in 2012 on a song called "Steppin'", video added below but it's not Christopher Williams in the video, although his is singing the male part on the recording!

It was interesting exploring him further as he is the nephew of jazz giant Ella Fitzgerald and was in a brief relationship with Halle Berry in the early 90s and is also an actor appearing in a few movies and several off-Broadway theatre productions.

He debuted in 1989 with an album "Adventures In Paradise" which produced three singles, the first, "Talk To Myself", being his biggest hit to date reaching #4 R&B and #49 Hot 100, although "I'm Dreaming" in 1991 got to #1 R&B but didn't fare as well on Hot 100 reaching only #89.

He released a further three albums between 1992 and 2001. I believe he may have released a couple of further albums in more recent years such as "Stepping Out" in 2015 but his catalogue is mixed with another artist with the same name on most DSPs so it's quite difficult to fathom without listening to them all!.
