Atiya "Smooth Operator" borrows a sample from Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes featuring
Teddy Pendergrass & Sharon Paige "You Know How To Make Me Feel So
Good" from 1975 (recently covered in the last month by
The Legendary Blue Notes Feat. Jean Carn) and a title from Sade and hey presto .. mash it up! .. it's one
for "The Dirty Dozen Covers" this week I suppose!
Released last Friday (6 Aug 2021). Absolutely no info about who Atiya
are, as they have not released anything else (under this name at least,
although there are at least 5 artists with the same name listed on apple),
most likely a producer.
Interestingly when Shazamed .. it lists L8nC Feat. ProdByBrandon
"Ryhme Right" which was released last year. The sound quality is
appalling, it sounds like it was recorded on a phone, that's taking lo-fi
to the extreme! I've added it below so you can judge for yourself.
