Al-Dos Band released just one single
"Some Things Don't Mean A Thing" / "Doing Our Thing With Pride" on Warmer Productions in 1977. The flip side has been in demand for
years and is rare as the proverbial hen's teeth with only one ever selling
on Discogs for just under £2k (£1,898) in Oct 2019. There are four listed
on
Popsike, one is a repress/bootleg, another looks suspicious as it is white
label, and the latest sold for £2,250 in May 2020.
Many then may be pleased to learn that a previously unreleased album from
them, which contains the track, is due for release on 3 Sep 2021 for a
mere £21 on vinyl (or £8.99 digital).
It's described as an album of gospel and disco and is titled after the
'holy grail' 45 "Doing Our Thing With Pride". It's available via
BandCamp
or your normal vinyl dealer. There are only three tracks available to
preview on BandCamp but the full album has been posted on YouTube by
Kalita here.
The Al-Dos Band were founded by Mary and William Robinson in
Greensville, SC.
