Lady Blackbird [2021] - It's Not That Easy [BMG] (Full EP)

Lady Blackbird (aka Marley Monroe from L.A.) released her debut single on 27 May 2020. It was a cover of Nina Simone's 1963 song "Blackbird". Since then there have been several remixes and she has released three further singles, two of which have also had remixes applied.

Her latest single "It's Not That Easy" was released on 16 Jul 2021, however all her singles have been packaged on Spotify into a four track collection, suggesting perhaps she is building up an album so, rather than just posting the latest single, I thought I'd post them all as she is attracting a lot of attention and receiving accolades for her performances.

Her first three singles ("Blackbird", "Beware The Stranger", "Collage") are available as a bundle  'The Singles

Whilst I accept that Lady Blackbird will not be to everyone's taste, she is certainly a raw and different talent. Her website's strap line is 'Black Acid Soul' and that probably sums her up as she is quite dark. She's not for the faint or light hearted as she grabs you by the throat from the start and demands that you listen! This is jazz, bordering rock, but what a voice this singer has!  If you're open minded and appreciate all types of black music, then you will probably appreciate this emerging talent.

She will be performing in the UK in August making two appearances at We Are Out Here festival Abbotts Ripton (near Huntingdon) on 19 Aug and at the Red Rooster festival Euston Hall (near Thetford) 27 Aug.

Bonus - an unreleased track "Angel Dream" (a bit folky!)
