The new single from Hil St. Soul featuring Noel Gourdin (who collaborated
back in 2014 on "No Worries") is set for release imminently (no date given
but may be next Friday 9 Jul 2021).
Zambian-born, London raised Hilary Mwelwa burst onto the scene in 2000
with a cover on Aretha's, Stevie Wonder written, song "Until You come Back
To Me" from her debut album "Soul Organic". She had originally cut it as
an acapella demo in 1995. In more recent years she's had UK soul chart
toppers such as "One Life". Her last release was a cover of the Ohio
Players
"Heaven Must Be Like This".
By the way, it's pronounced Hill Street Soul not Hil Saint Soul (always
confused me!) and they are actually a duo, normally, with Victor
Redwood-Sawyer, aka VRS a member of Split Decision later called Black
Twang.
I did a
'Best Of'
for them last year, but revisiting it I notice a lot of the videos are no
longer available, so I'll need to try and update!
