A new debut, self-released, six track EP/album from a new
artist Breonna B. (who I can find absolutely nothing about) was released yesterday 1 May
2021.
It's a very good 'proper' neo soul album, except for the last track which
is the 'token' trendy gesture to hip-hop, but all the other tracks are
excellent.
She comes across like a blend of Angie Stone and Mary J. Blige.
'One My Way' - has that dreamy ambient intro and then the soulful vocals
kick in.
'Situationship' - is a soulful ballad/stepper.
'Throwback Love' - is my favourite track, a superb soulful
ballad/stepper.
'Packing Up My Yesterday' - continues the mellow ballad steppers.
'I Love Me More' Feat. Dime Diva - sounds like it has a 70s sample which
I can't quite place - a Philly sweet soul tune, perhaps The
Delfonics? ... unfortunately a rap enters at 1:40 for almost a minute using the 'N' word ... which will certainly limit its airplay!
'Another Cup (Revision)' Feat. KoJo Snowden & Rolo which, to me, I'm
afraid is a mess, an almost ragga/hip-hop tune.
