Several years ago a concert was scheduled for 15 Nov 2014 for Marvin
Smith, the former lead singer with The Artistics, to perfrom at Wilton,
Castelford. Unfortunately Smith had to cancel the concert a month in
advance owing to ill health. However, the event went ahead without his
performance and a 4 track CD 'The Unissued Masters' was available for
sale. Only 100 copies were produced and I am the lucky owner of one of
those.
Two tracks from that CD have just been released by Hit And Run 'Peace'
(retitled There Must Be Peace For Me) and 'I Never Thought (I'd Be
Losing You) which he co-wrote with Louis Smith (a member of Lovesmith
& Smith Connection) and was released by
Major Lance
in 1978 on Motown's Soul label. This was the Major's only Motown release
and the very last release on the Soul subsidary (S 35123 F). It also got a
UK issue.
Dave Box (R.I.P.) (a promoter of Wilton events) posted an interview he
did with Marvin Smith on
Soul Source a month before the scheduled concert in Oct 2014 which he conducted in Aug 2014.
Single is released on 7" vinyl and is availabe from 1 Apr 2021 £12 each + £3 UK postage (good for 1-3 records) paypal -
