The latest album from Kindred The Family Soul 'Auntie & Unc' was
released yesterday (27 Mar 2021). It's a solid enough set of mainly
ballads and a couple of African influenced funky tracks, but no single
track jumps out at me immediately (it will probably need a few more
listens). The best track on first listen, is 'Over The Moon'.
Kindred The Family Soul are husband and wife duo Fatin Dantzler &
Aja Graydon from Philadelphia who were introduced to Hidden Beach
Recordings in 2000 by Jill Scott. They released their debut album
'Surrender To Love' in 2003. The latest album will be their seventh and their first since 2016.
A quick overview of the album:
'Break It Down' (7.8) is a soulful neo soul ballad
'I Believe' (7.6) another neo soul/R&B ballad
'Over The Moon' (8.2) a soulful stepper
'Rejoice,Renew,Repair' (7.2) a funky tune with African infleunces
No More (7) another funky African infleunced tune
'Made It' (7.7) mellow ballad
'The Best Things' (7.7) neo soul ballad/stepper
'Black Love Story' (7.5) another neo soul/R&B ballad/stepper
