I posted a 'promo'
live version
of this a few weeks ago before it was officially released on 10 Feb
2021.
This is her second single and is written about, and dedicated to, her mother Lois Lang. She says this about it:
"It tells the story of her growing up in New Orleans, a young girl living
during segregation, bringing up 4 kids as a single mother, losing
everything in 3 major Hurricanes (including Hurricane Katrina)...plus her
name sounds like Superman’s girlfriend ‘Lois Lane’ (which I reference in
the song)."
Acantha was born and raised in New Orleans, moved to New York where she
headlined her own blues show in Harlem, but now lives in London.
This song
oozes quality and has an old school southern soul vibe. It will definately feature in the next installment of 'Best
Of 2021'.
Here's a video of a live stream she did for the launch of the single on
11 Feb 2021.
