Pynnacol feat. Frank McComb [2024] - Happenstance [Bliss Fly / Richtown Music]

Pynnacol is a talented songwriting and production team consisting of high school friends Rose Ann Dimalanta (keys, vocals) and Raymond McKinley (bass/production), originally from the Bay Area but now based in Europe and L.A.

They have decided to release songs completed during a 30 day Songwriting Challenge under their own name, Pynnacol, and the first one, "Happenstance", features the unmistakable vocal talents of Frank McComb.

Lalah Hathaway [2024] - I AM [SoNo Recording Group]

Two weeks ago Lalah Hathaway released "So In Love" as the lead single from her forthcoming album "VANTABLACK" and last week a music video for it.

Today the second single, "I AM", arrives. This one is dance oriented and reminds us of a club anthem by Ultra Nate "Free" (1997) which we expect her to break into after the hook 'I AM'.

The album is due on 14 Jun so perhaps there may be one more single (on 31 May?) prior to it's release?

NxWorries feat. Snoop Dogg & October London [2024] - FromHere [Stones Throw Records]

The latest single from the forthcoming sophomore album "Why Lawd" (following "Yes Lawd" (2016)) by NxWorries is "FromHere" which features Snoop Dogg and October London.

NxWorries is duo Anderson.Paak and L.A. based producer Knxwledge (Glen Earl Boothe) originally from New Jersey.

The album drops on 14 Jun (and will be available on physical media the week before on 7 Jun). This is the fourth track pre-released following "86Sentra" (3 Apr '24), "Daydreaming" (18 May '23) "Where I Go" feat. H.E.R. (19 Oct '22).

The new single is based on a sample of T.I.M.E.'s "How Would You Like It Baby" (Jam-Rock JA / Tropical sound Tracs UK 1975). T.I.M.E. (The Incredible Musical Experience) was a Jamaican band who recorded half a dozen singles between 1975-78.

The album will feature other guest appearances from Charlie Wilson (Gap Band) and of course .Paak's latest protégé Rae Khalil as well as Thundercat, Dave Chappelle and Earl Sweatshirt.

The supporting music video depicts Anderson as a forlorn lonely figure in a club after a relationship breakup with Snoop Dogg giving is his philosophy at the end. October London supports with falsetto harmonies.

This is top notch soul music and an epic production that 'should' get plenty of airplay if there's any justice.

Durand Bernarr & Free Nationals [2024] - Fist Bump [DSING RECORDS]

Everything we've heard recently featuring Free Nationals has been pretty good. They are Anderson .Paak's live band. On this outing they are supporting Durand Bernarr with a single called "Fist Bump".

Durand Bernarr (Bernarr Durand Ferebee Jr) is a singer/songwriter born in Cleveland, OH, to a music teacher and vocal coach mother and sound production father. He is now based in L.A. and has performed with Erykah Badu and collaborated with the likes of the Internet, Anderson. Paak, Ari Lennox and Teedra Moses.

His first EP, "Sound Check", was released in 2016 followed by "Dur&" in 2019 featuring collaborations with the likes of Ari Lennox, KAYTRANADA, Anna Wise, & bassist, “Buddah” Foster Jr. His third album "Wanderlust" was released in Sep 2022.

He released a single "Unknown" only three weeks ago (music video below) and has also collaborated with Adi Oasis on a new version of "Le Départ" on her "Lotus Glow (Deluxe)" album last week which was also released as a single. So that's three singles in the last three weeks.

Resolution 88 feat. Vanessa Haynes [2024] - Love Will Come Around [Synthethesia]

UK-based Fender Rhodes driven soul/jazz/funk band Resolution 88 have a new 8 set album "Vortex" due for release on 19 Jun. They released the lead single, "Final Approach", on 12 Jan and today the second, "Love Will Come Around", which features the silky smooth vocals of Vanessa Haynes (Incognito), the album also includes an instrumental version

The band released their self-titled debut album in 2014 and the new album will be their fourth. The current line-up consists of Tom O'Grady (keys), Tiago Coimbra (bass), Ric Elsworth (drums) and Oli Blake (percussion) with Tom Smith guesting on sax.
