Kevin Brazil [2023] - Don't Leave [Self Released] (Full Album)

A debut release from 28 year old gospel artist Kevin B Brazil from Nashville, AK (not TN)) is an album "Don't Leave" released on 21 Jul. The standout, for us, is "Real Love".

It's nuisance that Spotfiy is only currently allowing samples but it will get messy if we post all tracks from YouTube so here is the link to the full album playlist on YouTube.

Peaches & Herb [2023] - Shake Your Groove Thing (Safari Riot Remix) [Polydor]

Oh .. go on then, seeing as we've had one disco tune this morning why not? A remix of Peaches & Herb's 1979 dance hit "Shake Your Groove Thing". Surprisingly, it is only 2:22 long so you won't have to suffer long if this is your antithesis of soul music, we'd have expected the standard dozen different mixes lasting into next Tuesday on this one! You can tell it's a poor week for new material!

It was their second biggest hit after the ballad "Reunited" which was the follow up single. They were their only UK hits with "Shake" reaching #26 and "Reunited" peaking at #4 on UK pop chart in early 1979. They hit the top spot on both Billboard R&B and Hot 100 with "Reunited".

Peaches & Herb were originally Herb Fame (aka Herbert Feemster know best to NS aficionados for his 1966 Van McCoy written and produced outing on Date "You're Messin' Up My Mind" a storming Northern Soul floor filler) and Francine Barker, who had been a member of The Darlettes later renamed The Sweet Things who also had a NS stormer on Date with "I'm In A World Of Trouble".

However, by the time the above songs were recorded Barker had been replaced by Linda Greene, a member of The AndraƩ Crouch Choir.

The Soulnaturals feat. CeCi Munette [2023] - I Found Love In A Discotheque (Hotmood Remix) [British Soul Standard]

The new single from London's The Soulnaturals is disco with more than a hint of house and features the vocals of San Diego soul/gospel singer CeCi Munette.

The Soulnaturals are led by Tooting's Tony Cannan and released their debut album "Love Says Yes" in Apr 2017.

The group regularly features guest, normally female, vocalists such as  CeCi Munette, Kylie Auldist, Jo Kelsey, Gloria Pryce, Chantelle Nandi, Sharon Gitau, Lotus D.

In addition to CeCi Munette, the new single features Yvonne Park and Kadesha Charles on background vocals. We are told that the single is from a forthcoming, sophomore, album "Parlo Discoteca?" from which we're sure you can deduce what the contents are likely to be.

The current mix is the Hotmood Remix which, surprisingly, is released before the original mix which is due in two weeks on 18 Aug,

Ruby Wood [2023] - Me and My Girl [First Word Records]

We featured the last single from Huddersfield's Ruby Wood "My Favourite Song" on 12 Jul. It has been packaged with her latest single "Me And My Girl" released today (4 Aug) which is building up to a four track EP "Sincerely".

Having released only a live album, "Ruby!" in 2016, "Sincerely" will be her first studio project.

Ms Wood graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2008 and is perhaps best known fronting Submotion Orchestra since 2009. She has performed with various outfits such as Bonobo’s live band, Nubiyan Twist, The Sugar Sister and writing and recording with Krept & Konan, Alfa Mist, Roska, Hemai, Barney Artist, Jasper Tygner, Illaman and XOA and others.

NOTE: As Spotify hasn't got it's act together, as yet, regarding there being only samples available in embeds, wherever possible, we will also now start posting from YouTube until they fix the issue or we will phase out Spotify altogether.
