Kris Køllins [2022] - River [Serenity Projects]

A new  single from Kris Køllins was released on 22 Feb  2022 which I received promo details for but unfortunately with no sound file that I was able to share, which has now been received today. However, as it's already released, it can be streamed from Spotify.

Lyrically, Kris tells us, "River" is a sensual way of asking someone to have a one night stand with you. A curiosity for someone that you admire and that you want to know more about in an intimate way.

Kris is from Washington D.C. and is yet another graduate of Berklee College of Music. He had a Top 30 Club Dance Chart hit in 2018 with "Hydro Love (Take Me To L.A.)" and has worked alongside big names such as H.E.R and toured with Marsha Ambrosius (Floetry) and has opened for the likes of Dwele. 

His latest single is his first for almost two years and is his most soulful to date although it is also quite pop oriented.

UCFM [2022] - California Funk Machine, Vol. 1 [Skytown Records] (Full Album) OUT TODAY

Posted two weeks on promo with 'drops' inserted but you are now able to listen unhindered as released today (4 Mar 2022) is a set of covers of some big tunes of the 70s/80s billed as "Californian Funk Machine, Vol. 1". 

It is produced, arranged and mixed by L.A. based Frenchman U-NAM (Emmanuel Abiteboul) featuring a host of musicians including Stevie Wonder and Prince protege Marva King, Tim 'TiO' Owens,  'Ready' Freddie Washington, Tony Tatum (whose album "Marriage" with his wife as Rotalty Duo was posted only yesterday), Wayne Linsey and Michael White (both formerly with Maze), Alex Al (Michael Jackson), Frank Burke (Heathwave).

All the tracks should be familiar, the not so obvious ones are Herbie Hancock's, Rod Temperton written, "Motor Mouth", Atlantic Starr's "Perfect Love" and perhaps Al Jarreau's "Boogie Down".

Debórah Bond [2022] - Bonded Sessions 2020 (Live Version) [Self Released] (Full EP)

This five track EP "Bonded Sessions 2020" from Debórah Bond was released a month ago (4 Feb 2022) on Bandcamp, but as all tracks are live versions of tracks from her "compass:I" album released a year ago (5 Mar 2021) I didn't post it. 

It has now got a wider release today (4 Mar 2022) on the majors DSP so I suppose It should really be posted.

They are live and unrehearsed tracks recorded in Nov 2020 prior to the album release.

"compass: I" topped the Global Soul Chart at the end of March 2021 and was also top 5 in the UK Soul Chart in April 2021.

Brooklyn's (NYC) Relyae (Shearaton Relyea Carter) featured on the blog for the first time last month (2 Feb) with  "Ending" and follows it up today (4 Mar 2022) with "midnight" featuring Amelia Rose (Dyson) from London.

It's a jazz flavoured, neo soul tune.
