Sassy D (Dawn'ya Hogan) is a southern soul artist from Hammond, Louisiana, Hammond, Louisiana who seems to hang with other southern soul artists like Jeter Jones and Tucka having released singles with them both.

She has a new, as yet unreleased song, "Dripping, which I believe is a cover of a 90s song.

Fer Guinea [2022] - Awaken [Self Released] (Full EP)

Fer Guinea (Maria Fernanda Garcia de Leon Guinea) is a new singer/songwriter from Mexico who released her self-written debut EP "Awaken" on 22 Feb 2022 following three singles since Jan 2021. The two more recent ones, "Tryna Get Some" and "Moment In Time", feature on the EP.

My choices cuts are the single "Moment In Time" (13 Oct 2021) and "Deep Down".

Whilst not on her EP, I've included a video of her live rendition of Al Green's "Simply Beautiful" as well as a video for her debut single "Sueños"

The Georgettes [2022/1970] - Would You Rather / Hard, Hard [Numero Group/Yodi #1009/1010]

A digital reissue of a rare single by The Georgettes "Would You Rather" / "Hard, Hard" originally released in 1970 on Yodi which seem to sell between £200-£300 on original vinyl. 

The label was owned by Allen Merry who was a youth worker in East St. Louis. He brought kids together to form The Young Disciples to keep them off the streets and named the label after them i.e YoDi.

The Georgettes were a female trio born out of The Young Disciples. One of its members was Marsha Evans who went on to become a featured vocalist with Johnnie Johnson. This was their only single, although there are other groups with the same name who recorded in the 50s/60s.

This release has been reissued by the Numero Group, I believe on 24 Feb 2022 (as that's when it appeared on Amazon). The top side is a sweet soul harmony lowrider with the flip being a typical 60s Motown/Northern Soul style dancer.

String Man [2022] - Shades [Self Released]

String Man started in 2021 as a collective of producers from around the world, based in Central Europe, who describe their music as a merger of genres to create their own version of lo fi Trip Hop and Ambient sounds.

Their latest effort is "Shades" released on 24 Feb 2022 which has a retro and jazzy vibe.

Meaghan Maples [2022] - Someone [Over Everything]

Meaghan Maples is from Oakland, CA, and debuted in 2015 with an album "Good Reasons". Over the last few years she has released a couple of singles as well as writing songs for TV and Film using the name Mama Haze.

Her new single "Someone" was released on 24 Feb 2022 which is the second single after "Up & Away" (2 Feb 2022) from a forthcoming sophomore project "1763", the title of which she says is a nod to her childhood address in Easy Bay. 

I've also added "Up & Away" (including a live video performance) to give a flavour of what to expect on the new EP/album.

Chloe Hart [2022] - Something From My Soul [Self Released] (Full Album)

Chloe Hart is a 20 year old singer/songwriter/producer from Oklahoma who released her debut album "Something From My Soul" on 6 Feb 2022. It includes one of only three previous singles "Velvet" (her debut single in Sep 2020) which, along with "Slowww Jam"  and "Regular", are probably the best tracks.
