Sandra-Mae Lux [2022] - You Me And Tomorrow [Self Released]

Sandra-Mae Lux is originally from Vancouver (Canada) but has lived in south London since 2017. She has a degree in Jazz Studies and has performed with Robert Glasper and Herbie Hancock and opened for Dave Brubeck.

She released her debut album "Happily Ever After" in 2020 which attracted the attention of BBC radio jocks Craig Charles and Gilles Peterson. In 2020 she was nominated Best UK Artist in the Bright Star Awards as well as being nominated as Jazz Artist of the Year in the Boisdales Music Awards presented by Jools Holland.

Her first release since the album is a new single "You Me And Tomorrow" due on 14 Jan 2022.

I've also included her debut album and a few live videos as it's been a while!

Foxe [2021] - Drive Me Crazy [Self Released]

Another posted in "The Bleeding Edge" that deserves it's own post is this retro sounding tune by Nashville artist Foxe and "Drive Me Crazy".

She is another artists who seems to get converged with other artists of the same name. Only one other release appears on Spotify but several on the YouTube 'topic' channel and a couple of the DSPs who I think (hope?) are different artists as it is indie pop material.

Both of her songs are written by Kendra Leigh Reid so that is what I assume her real name is likely to be.

Marcus Valentine [2021] - Just Say / True Love [Self Released]

Marcus Valentine's last single "True Love" was posted in yesterday's "The Bleeding Edge A List" but I've just discovered a later single from him "Just Say (released on 23 Dec 2021) which may just be even better.

It looks like he's a new artist as this is only his fourth single appearing on DSPs, all released in 2021, actually since 15 Nov 2021. However, there is another artist who has been around since the 00s with the same name who released an album "Valentine's Day" in 2004, from which a track called "Gone" was picked up on (posted below), who may well be the same artist, it certainly sounds like it could be.

Digging a bit deeper I've discovered that it is the same artist as "Just Say" (or at least a version of it) was previously released in 2003 on his "Blossom Hill" EP. He is British born but now lives in L.A.

Mandee [2021] - Never Stop [Self Released]

I'm still catching up on releases over the last two weeks and the new single from Mandee (the singer) "Never Stop" came out on 23 Dec 2021. Her recent single "Mr Big Man" released in August did well on some charts but I think this is one is much better.

Misa Lowe [2021] - Back to Life [Self Released]

This appears to be a debut release from Misa Lowe from Atlanta, GA, but after a bit of searching on YouTube it would seem that she used to go by the name Mya Parker with live videos of cover versions from 9/10 years ago on her channel.  She is assisted on four of the five tracks on the "Back To Life" EP (released 24 Dec 2021)  by Ashley Lowe (her sister?) who also co-wrote all of the tracks with mainly Dionte Sherrill.

The tracks are all jazzy neo soul numbers except the last track "Rebellion" which is a bit strange and out of keeping with the rest of the EP. My favourite track on first listen is "Misery" which sounds like it has sections of "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Jackson 5 / Gloria Gaynor) in it as from 35 seconds in it had me scrambling my brain cells together trying to think what it reminded me of!
