Anthony Lofties [2021] - Sincerely, My Fault [Self Released] (Full Album)

A debut album "Sincerely, My Fault" from Anthony Lofties (who I can find nothing about except that he's originally from Jackson (MS) now living in Nashville (TN)) was released yesterday (1 Aug 2021). 

Calling it an album is a bit of a stretch as, of the ten tracks, there are three interludes and three instrumentals of three of the other tracks, so only 'really' four tracks. One, "Smoke With You", was released as his debut single last year (21 Jun).

The main tracks are all ballads, with "I'm So Sorry" and "Go Back" being my choice cuts. The other two ballads are a bit more R&B flavoured but are quite nice. This guy's got a great voice. He went to a Christian school so I would imagine, like so many great singers, he's been bought up on gospel music.

DJ-SLT-UK [2021] - You Be On My Mind [Self Released]

Sound familiar? It sounds like a new/alternate version of the song recently released by The Realm "On My Mind" re-titled "You Be On My Mind" (released 30 Jul 2021), so I don't know if you could call this a cover or not. I spoke with Manny (The Realm) about it and he is cool with it and apparently they both use samples that are in the public domain, but surely it can't be a coincidence after Manny's recent success with it ... or can it?

DJ-SLT-UK is Australian producer Simon B Chappell who has been around for twenty years.

Kenny Kirby [2021] - Playin' The Cracks (Selected Tracks) [Philly Fillet Records]

I came across this artist via DJ Melismo's (aka Mats Olofsson) latest podcast in which he played "Someday We'll All Be Free" (and what a version!), so decided to check out the rest of the album

Kenny Kirby's name may not be well known but he has been performing for over forty years with  top acts such as Van Morrison, Charlie Grace, Sly & The Family Stone, Delfonics, Three Degrees, Major Harris, Billy Paul, Intruders, Blue Notes, Soul Survivors and was conductor for The Tymes.

He is a piano player from Birmingham, AL, and released, what looks like, his debut album "Playin' The Cracks" in April.  It is mainly covers, smooth jazz, some instrumentals and some quite MOR tunes, but three tracks did get my attention. I'm fairly sure it's not Kenny singing as some of the vocals are female. No one else is credited on the album, so I'm guessing they are unnamed guest vocalists on the vocal tracks.

The three tracks are a cover of Donny Hathaway's "Someday We'll All Be Free", "Some Things Never Change" and "Ultimate Lover" a song written by Linda Creed and Dennis Matkosky.

Auram & Mia Sanchez [2021] - No Games [Galeri Records]

I can't find anything on Auram but Mia Sanchez is a Latin artist from Toronto. They collaborated on a new single "No Games" released 30 Jul 2021.

It's one of those 'generic' neo blue-eyed soul tunes, but quite pleasant. I quite like some of them but I feel the line is blurred between these types of sounds and indie pop music. It's down to personal taste I guess whether you regard this as soul or not!

Tilly Valentine Feat. edbl [2021] - Retail Therapy [edbl Recordings]

Tilly Valentine was born and raised in Oxfordshire but moved to London when she was 16 to study music at The Brit School in Croydon. She released her first single "Coins" in 2018.

Her music is described a jazz and trip-hop, but the latest single "Retail Therapy" (released 23 Jul 2021) is jazzy neo blue-eyed soul and features edbl (Ed Black) originally from Chester, but now London based.
