(Hannah) Sidibe teams up with Devin Morrison for her latest release "Ready Enough" which came out of the traps today (9 Jul 2021).  The video clip also credits Herb Alpert!

Both have recently released their own singles last month, Sidebe with "Feeling 4 U"  and Devin Morrison with "Nu Beginning".

Alanna Royale [2021] - Fall In Love Again [Colemine]

Despite the initial perception, Alanna Royale is a group and not the name of the female lead singer who is Alanna Quinn-Broadus. The group consists of her husband Jared Colby (guitar), Matt Snow (drums), Gabriel Golden (bass), Kirk Donovan (trumpet) and Diego Vasquez (trombone).

They released a debut album "Achilles" in 2014 after becoming well established on the Nashville live scene. Quinn-Broadus and Colby are originally from Boston and formed the band after relocating to Nashville.

Their latest single "Fall In Love Again" is their first since 2018 and was produced by fellow Colemine artist Kelly Finnegan. It was released today (9 Jul 2021) and what a welcome it got from these ears! A 'proper' soulful, retro, yet timeless, five minutes of bliss. Hopefully, this should do very well, certainly one of the better tunes I've heard in a while.

Unusually, from Colemine, it doesn't appear to be available on vinyl, yet!

Alexander Morris [2021] - We Gon Get By / Dial Tone [Izipho Soul #ZP66]

Current Four Tops member Alexander Morris released an album "January" on 22 Jun. Izipho Soul have digitally released two tracks from it "Dial Tone", with "We Gon Get By" receiving a Nigel Lowis Re-Edit.

It was released yesterday (8 Jul 2021) and seems to be only available via BandCamp at present.

Erez Zobary [2021] - Breathe You Out (To Bloom LP) [Self Released]

Three tracks from a forthcoming album "To Bloom" due on 23 Jul 2021 by Erez Zobary are available to listen to on Bandcamp. 

The best of the three, "Breathe You Out" was released as a single on 14 Jun 2021 and the other two "Saku" and "How" were singles earlier this year.

Erez Zobary is from Toronto who has released three EPs with other artists, the first in 2015 with Enoch Ncube. She released her first full length album in 2019 and to date has released nearly twenty singles since 2017.

No videos are available for recent singles so I've posted one from 2019 "Love Me" and another from 2002 "Before I Knew You", both of which are quite pleasant with jazz flavas.

Jam & Lewis [2021] - Jam & Lewis, Volume One [Flyte Tyme]

A few weeks ago I posted a pre-released single form this album featuring Mariah Carey and also one from The Sounds Of Blackness. The full album is released today (9 Jul 2021), 

It is Jimmy 'Jam' Harris  & Terry Lewis's debut album which has been 35 years in the making.

All tracks feature guest artists including Sounds Of Blackness, Mariah Carey, Babyface, Mary J. Blige, Tony Braxton, Heather Headley, Charlie Wilson, Boyz II Men,, Usher, Jerome, Morris Day & The Roots.

Don't expect anything new and exciting from the album as the tracks stick to the same tried and tested formula and is predominantly MOR/soul ballads. The only ones that sparked any interest for me were "Maybe I've Changed (Or Did You)" (feat. Heather Headley, "Do What I Do" (feat. Charlie Wilson)  and Spinnin' (feat. Mary J. Blige).

After all the hype surrounding the release of this album I'm left somewhat underwhelmed, but then perhaps my expectations were too high considering the repertoire of the artists on show!
