Madeleine [2021] - Can I Feel Enough [IXCHEL Collective]

Debut single from South West London-based Madeleine (Jones) was released today 28 May 2021.

She's a singer/songwriter and classically trained keyboardist who has being playing the London underground jazz scene since 2019 and working as a session musician.

This one is straight out of the Sade school of soul.

Dark Roast [2021] - Going Back, Moving Up! [Jazzland Recordings] (Full Album)

Only yesterday I posted a couple of singles from the new album, "Going Back, Moving Up!", from Norwegian blue-eyed funk band Dark Roast from Oslo ... more Scandinavian Soul!. 

The album was released today (28 May 2021) and having perhaps been a bit uncharitable about the neo Northern Soul track "Shades Hiding Sharp Eyes", this is not a bad album at all. 

It's predominantly new funk reminiscent of Jamiroquai. There's a few short funky instrumental interludes, "Dark Roast Theme", "Spacetalk" and "Eva". A couple of Northern Soul influenced tracks, the aforementioned "Shades Hiding Sharp Eyes" and 'Wait for You", but don't be fooled by the title of "Northern Disco Lights" as it's funky.

The highlight of the album, for me, is "Running Away" which is a mid-tempo, crossover style dancer with a retro feel and the most soulful track on the album.

Eloise [2021] - Somewhere In-Between [Harbour Artists & Music] (Part Album)

A new artist, 21 year old London-based Eloise, releases her debut album "Somewhere In-Between" on 18 Jun 2021, Three of the nine tracks have been released as singles / EP, the best of the bunch being "Hungover" which was released 16 Apr 2021 and was BBC Introducing Track of the Week.

Eloise debuted in 2019 with a four track EP "This Thing Called Living".

Carmy Love [2021] - Rebel [Big A.C]

We posted an exclusive full length version of Carmy Love's "Rebel" on 19 May. It is digitally released today 28 May 2021.

It will also be released on 7" vinyl, limited to 500 copies with "Thinkin' About You" which are pretty sure to sell out, possibly on pre-orders alone, so would recommend pre-ordering to avoid disappointment (link on images) as this will inevitably end up on Discogs for double the price, or more, once they are sold out!

Carmy Love is from North West London and was a member of acid jazz group from London New Street Adventure (NSA). Prior to that she recorded on 'Just Dance' with Cool Million in 2010 on their 'Back For More' album.

B B Soul Feat. Cheri Maree [2021] - Is It You / Time Waits [Boogie Back Records #BBR024]

Released digitally (mp3 or wav) and on vinyl on 21 May 2021 with a remix of "Time Waits" on the flip of the vinyl release. It appears to be only available direct from Boogie Back Records.

BB Soul are the guys behind all the Boogie Back remixes i.e. Ernie McKone and Toby Baker.

Cheri Maree was born in Indiana, but now lives in Atlanta. She debuted in 2007 with an album 'Pure Voice'.
