Tekina [2021] - From Toons to Tunes [Self Released]

A debut EP 'From Toons To Tunes' from Mumbai composer Aniket Mangrulkar, under the moniker Tekina, was released yesterday (2 Apr 2021). It has been six years in the making and was due for release in 2020 but put back owing to Covid.  

All the tracks are pretty decent, which you can listen to from link below. The featured track is the title track which has Warshaw Easwar on lead who is in Mumbai band called Voctronica.

Mico Wave, Joe Stonestreet & Andy Baylor [2021] - A Love of Your Own (1988) [Kaelco Records]

on 31 Mar 2021 Mico Wave released a cover of a song written by Ned Doheny and Hamish Stuart who both released it in 1976 Stuart with the Average White Band on 'Soul Searching' and as a single and Doheny on 'Hard Candy' and as a  single.

Mico Wave is Michael Kerry Lane who recorded some solo material as well as being in the group The Deele after the departure of Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds and Antonio 'L.A.' Reid.  He also worked with members of Parliament/Funkadelic such as George Clinton, Bootsy Collins and Gary Shider.

This track is taken from his 1988 album 'Gonna Be One Of Those Nights' hence the '(1988)' in the title, but I can't find any trace of the album so perhaps it was unreleased? He says that he will be re-releasing nine albums in the next year.

Eliot Kennedy [2021] - A Love Of Your Own [Self Released]

I stumbled across this when researching the release by Mico Wave, Joe Stonestreet & Andy Baylor.  It was released 27 Feb 2021 and is a good version of the Ned Doheny & Hamish Stuart song.

He's an English singer/songwriter from Sheffield who has written for dozens of artists including Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Pauline Henry, Kenny Thomas, Lulu, Gary Barlow, Take That, Spice Girls, Bryan Adams. He has 345 writing credits on Discogs. He was married to actress/singer Natalie Mendoza beteen 2006-2010.

He was persuaded by Gary Barlow to record a solo album and has released his debut album 'A Yacht Named Sue' in Feb 2021 from which two singles have already been released 'My Destiny' and 'Love Breaks Down'. His cover of AWB's 'A Love Of Your Own' is the latest single from the album.

Tony Lindsay Feat. Tom Politzer [2021] - Life Partner [Self Released]

Ex Santana vocalist Tony Lindsay released another new single featuring Tom Politzer on saxophone on 23 Mar 2021.

He spent 25 years with Santana between 1990-2015 and now performs with a European tribute act The Magic Of Santana (who I have featured on the blog previously) as well as releaing solo material.
